Remarkable pencils

Black and NaturalBack in 1996, Edward Douglas Miller set up a company called Remarkable to look at what could be made from UK recycled materials. With the slogan ‘Turning junk into something Remarkable’, the company’s philosophy is to create recycled items that are well-designed, great quality and a joy to own.

Each week, over 3.5 million plastic cups are collected for recycling from offices around the UK. Remarkable began by researching how to turn these cups into something new and, after two years
of development, launched the first Remarkable Pencils. These proved an instant hit with both the general public and companies, winning an award for International Invention of the Year.
