The problems of living in an enkaji

Living in an enkaji isn't easy. The main problems are:

As teenager Helen Lantei explains: 'In the past, many of our mothers suffered. A lot of times, when it rained, you could not eat! This was because the rainwater leaked into the house and extinguished the fire. You had to wait for the rain to stop, then you lit your fire again. Personal belongings sometimes got soaked and spoiled. I couldn't do my homework.'
