Radio contact

Production and use

Practical Action is hoping to set up five radio stations in and around Cajamarca, including one in Chanta Alta. Those that are already established are improving communication in three key ways. Villagers are trained in how to organise a radio station and how to maintain the equipment. They decide what programmes to make and learn how to make them. Sometimes they call in help from technical experts from outside the community, but the focus remains local at all times.
