Eden Project

Activities

FPT (resistant materials)
Design and make a model geodesic dome. For ideas, go to www.bfi.org/domes, which is the web page of the Buckminster Fuller Institute (Buckminster Fuller invented the geodesic dome). A search on Google for geodesic domes will bring up a range of other interesting websites.

FPT (systems and control)
Find out more about how the climate of the Humid Tropics Biome is controlled and make a systems diagram to represent this.

DMA (resistant materials)
Design and make a promotional gift that will make people think about the relationship between humans and plants. Use CAD-CAM to make a high-quality batch of the products.

DMA (food technology and graphic products)
Design and make a short recipe book of tested recipes that:

  • are based on sustainably sourced ingredients
  • require the minimum amount of energy.

    DMA (textiles)
Go to the main Eden Project site www.edenproject.com and type the word indigo into the search engine. This will generate a large number of links to activities connected with the sustainable design of clothes. Based on these, design and make your own item of sustainable clothing.
